Kermit Baker

Kermit Baker works part-time as the Chief Economist for the American Institute of Architects in Washington, D.C.  Kermit simultaneously served as the Project Director of the Remodeling Futures Program at the Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard University from 1995 until his retirement from this research center in 2021.

Kermit has served on advisory boards at several companies and enjoys staying engaged in the residential and nonresidential design and construction industry. He, his wife and their three young children moved to South Natick in the mid-1980s after seven years at Wellesley College. Now he and his wife enjoy as many opportunities as possible to visit their children and growing number of grandchildren.

Kermit has an undergraduate degree in the social sciences from Johns Hopkins University and graduate degrees in urban planning from Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Kermit is an honorary member of the American Institute of Architects and a member of the National Association of Home Builders’ Remodeling Hall of Fame.
